LOW CARB KETO BISCUITS


These low carb keto biscuits are so tender and fluffy, you won’t believe they are flourless. They take less than 30 minutes to make and are gluten free, keto and low carb.


These taste just like drop biscuits, similar to ones you might be served as an appetizer at a restaurant. They are soft and tender on the inside and flavored with cheese, garlic, onion powder.

Please don’t expect tall, flaky biscuits– because these are not that kind of biscuit.


SOUR CREAM SUBSTITUTIONS

The key to the tender and fluffy texture is the use of full fat sour cream. I actually tried a few different variations, but sour cream was my favorite.

However, if you don’t have any sour cream in the house, you can also use cream cheese or plain greek yogurt.

Cream cheese requires a little extra work because you need to soften and beat the cream cheese so that it blends easily into the batter. You will also have a stronger cheese flavor in the biscuits.

Plain Greek yogurt will reduce the fat content of these biscuits. It still keeps the biscuits moist, but they aren’t quite as rich as the sour cream or cream cheese




INGREDIENTS

  • 1 ½ cups superfine almond flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream see notes
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat oven to 450°F. Lightly grease muffin cavities of a 12-cup muffin pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together almond flour, salt, baking powder, garlic powder and onion powder.
  • In a small bowl, combine eggs, sour cream, butter. Whisk until smooth. Pour into large bowl with dry ingredients.
  • Mix with a whisk or spoon until batter is evenly mixed. It will be quite thick. Stir in cheese.
  • Scoop ¼ cup of batter and place into muffin mold. The batter is sticky so you will likely need to use a spatula to scrape and remove all the batter from the measuring cup. Repeat until all batter is used up
  • Bake biscuits about 10-11 minutes or until tops are golden and toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Allow biscuits to cool slightly before eating.

NOTES

  • It’s best to bake these in a muffin pan because the batter is very liquid and will spread out too much if you try to bake them free form on a baking sheet.

  • The recipe today is for savory cheese biscuits. But you can easily make variations by adding herbs (rosemary, chives, thyme, parsley are all great options) to the batter or swapping the cheddar cheese for a different cheese.

·         Preparation Time:10 minutes plus baking time 
Ingredients

1egg
1 cup250 ml  dark corn syrup
1/4 tsp1 ml  maple extract
1 ( 9 frozen pastry shell, unbaked
1 cup250 ml pecan halves

Directions
  1 :  Beat egg until frothy; thoroughly blend in sweetened condensed milk, corn syrup and maple extract.
  2 :  Pour filling into unbaked pie shell. Top with pecans.
  3 :  Bake in preheated 425ºF (220ºC) oven 10 minutes; reduce heat to 350°F (180°C) and bake 25 minutes longer or until centre is softly set. Do not overbake. Cool before cutting.

·      1 cup of apple juice

2. GINGER – LEMON DRINK

YOU NEED:

·      5-10 slices of cucumber with skin (or a full cucumber if you like a thick drink)
·      1 Tbsp freshly grated ginger
·      6 oz. water
·      Juice of 1 lemon
·      A pinch of Himalayan pink salt (optional)
Blend cucumber and grated ginger with water until smooth. Stir in the juice of one lemon and the salt, if using.

HOW IT WORKS:

Cucumber- It is a low-calorie vegetable with very high fiber content. The soluble fiber in cucumber binds with the fatty acids resulting from the digestion of the fats in our food and quickly carries them away. This reduces the total fat intake from the digestive tract
Ginger – Ginger is a digestive aid. ginger reduces heartburn and stomach discomfort. Ginger also increases metabolic rate, directly aiding fat burn. It is anti-inflammatory as well and helps reduce water retention.
Lemon juice – It is an excellent detoxifier. Although the juice contains high amounts of citric acid, it has an alkalizing effect on the body when fully digested and assimilated.


3. WARM MILK AND NUTMEG DRINK

European Journal of Nutrition in 2013 reports that 11 out of 16 studies have found the opposite to be true. Regular consumption of milk, even the full-fat version, does not cause weight gain, but may actually help prevent weight gain.

YOU WILL NEED:

·      1 cup milk – preferably full-fat organic milk from pastured cows
·      1-2 tsp honey
·      A pinch of freshly grated nutmeg (not more than 1/8 of a teaspoon)
Heat the milk and then cool it to the temperature you can handle. Mix in the honey and grated nutmeg, drink it immediately.

WHAT IT DOES:

Milk – The amino acid tryptophan in milk is credited with inducing sleep. This essential amino acid is required in the formation of serotonin, a neurotransmitter associated with feelings of relaxation and sleep.
Honey – Tryptophan requires the assistance of carbohydrates to enter the brain.
Nutmeg – It has a mild sedative effect that puts you in the mood for sleep and this spice has a thermogenic effect that helps fire up your metabolism to burn extra fat during sleep. Caution: Nutmeg, as well as other spices, should be used in very small quantities to derive their beneficial effects. Don’t assume that if a little is good, a lot will be better.

Ingredients
  • 1-1/4 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons instant dry milk powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Italian herb seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons Fleischmann's® Bread Machine Yeast

Directions
Add ingredients to bread machine pan in the order suggested by manufacturer. Select basic/white bread cycle; medium/normal color setting.
 
When cycle is complete, remove from pan; cool on wire rack.

Instructions

Combine Dawn dish soap, castor oil and water in a bottle.
Soak the areas where moles and other burrowing animals are taking over.
You might not be able to get rid of them in one go.
So repeat this treatment week after week until they are gone.
Once per week should be good enough.

1 cup slightly warm water

2 eggs lightly beaten

1/2 cup oat fiber

2/3 cup flaxseed meal

1.25 cups vital wheat gluten

1 teasp salt around outside edge of pan

4 tablespoons of erythritol  around outside edge of pan

1 teasp honey around outside edge of pan

1/2 teasp xanthum gum -scatter across center of pan

2 tablespoons butter in tiny pcs around outside edge of pan

1 tablespoon of ACTIVE DRY yeast, make a shallow hole is center of the dry ingredients, not down to water

Ingredients:
  • 1 pkg dry yeast (Rapid Rise/Highly Active)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar *
  • 1 1/8 cup "baby bottle warm" water (90-100°F)
  • 3 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Splenda
  • 1 cup vital wheat gluten flour
  • 1/4 cup oat flour
  • 3/4 cup soy flour
  • 1/4 cup flax seed meal
  • 1/4 cup coarse unprocessed wheat bran

Pour yeast into bottom of bread machine pan. Add sugar and water. Stir, and let sit. (This is "proofing" your yeast to see if your yeast is alive. If it's not bubbling, it's dead and you can replace it without wasting all of the other ingredients).

In the meantime, mix all other dry ingredients together in a bowl. Add oil to bread machine pan. Add mixed dry ingredients. Set your machine to the basic cycle (3-4 hours) and bake.

Cool on a rack and enjoy.


* The sugar is totally consumed by the yeast and does not contribute to the carb count. I keep a few packets of restaurant sugar on-hand for this purpose so I never have to have a supply of actual sugar in the house.

Makes 16 slices. 3.4 grams net carbs per slice.

ADDITIONAL NOTE FROM LORA: The above basic instructions are Gabi Moeller's original ones. Please remember that your machine may require changes. Refer to the instructions that come with your bread machine — making note of any special instructions for specialty or "gluten" breads. I own a West Bend Deluxe with horizontal baking pan. To get mine perfect, I add water and oil to bottom of pan, then dry ingredients, then yeast sprinkled evenly on top. After initial kneading cycle (about 40 minutes), I stop the machine's kneading paddles so as not to over-work the dough, then finish baking in bread machine. The loaf comes out picture perfect, high and traditionally bread-like. With low-carb bread, I definitely discovered that practice makes perfect.

Ingredients



Dry Ingredients:
1/2 c. Anthony's Oat Fiber
2/3 c. Flaxseed Meal
1 1/4 c. Anthony's Vital Wheat Gluten
1 t. salt
1/4 c. Xylitol
1/2 t. Xanthan Gum
Wet Ingredients:
1 c. Room Temp Water
2 eggs, beaten
1 t. honey
2 T room temp butter
1 T Active Dry Yeast (Must be Active Dry Yeast)

Instructions
In a bowl, combine all the dry ingredients and whisk well to combine.
In your bread machine bowl, add all of the wet ingredients, besides the yeast.
Add the dry ingredients on top. Then pour in the yeast.
Close the machine and start the bread machine on the regular setting.

Notes
A Note About Honey: The honey in this recipe exists to feed the yeast, which must have a food source in order to activate and leaven the bread. The honey is calculated into the carb count, but only trace amounts of it remain in the final loaf.
